I began
my martial arts career as an occupational therapist developing a
program for karate students with ADD. I loved everything I saw at
karate and began studying the kids during their class. I would go
home and practice everything I observed in my living room. My first
formal instruction was as a kickboxing aerobics student, but I wanted
more. I joined the Goshin Jutsu class and then Mugen Ryu karate and
studied under Shihan Jason Porter for 2 ½ years. It was under
Shihan Porter that I attended my first karate competition. From there
I moved to Buffalo and began to study Shotokan Karate under Sensei
Kassine Omar Cass. I have fallen in love with the sport of martial
arts and have made it my lifestyle. My words of advice…”It’s
never too late”
