Pacific Island Gathering (PIG) Chicago, Illinois

The Tribe participated in the 2010 Pacific Island Gathering. This year Datu Hartman was accompanied by Guro Ryan Monolopolus and Jhun Occidental. Datu Hartman was part of the teaching staff on Saturday. On Sunday he coached Ryan and Jhun to victories in their respective weight divisions in the continuous stick sparring. In addition to teaching and competing at events like this, there are always the surprise meetings that make for special moments. Datu reconnected with one of his old Modern Arnis friends, Master Dave Converse. The team also had the opportunity to meet GM Bandalan of Bandalan Doce Pares.  All in all, the team had a great time and is looking forward to next year’s tournament in June.
